Nathan R. Miller Hall
Suffolk University, Boston, MA
Nathan R. Miller Hall is a 19 story student residence hall designed for Suffolk University, located in the heart of downtown Boston, steps from the Massachusetts State House and Boston Common. The high rise structure provides housing and amenities for undergraduate students in a dense urban context.
Surrounded on three sides by mid rise buildings, the design addresses challenges of daylight access and spatial connectivity through the introduction of a vertical glazed light well that spans the full height of the building. This feature draws natural light deep into the lower levels and fosters visual connections and casual interaction between students on multiple floors.
Upper level lounges are strategically positioned to take advantage of views over the Boston skyline, offering shared social spaces with expansive city vistas. Program amenities include an exercise room, cafeteria, and a range of common meeting areas that support both academic and residential life.
