125 Lowell Street

125 Lowell Street is a 20 unit condominium redevelopment located in Somerville, Massachusetts. The project involves the adaptive reuse of a 1970s concrete and masonry office building, reimagined as residential housing through a comprehensive architectural and envelope transformation.
The existing structural frame is retained while the exterior is fully re-cladded with insulated metal panels and new high performance glazing. These upgrades bring the building into compliance with current energy and code standards while significantly improving its visual and thermal performance.
Unit types range from one to three bedrooms, with upper floors offering expansive views of the Boston skyline. Interior layouts are designed to maximize flexibility and light, making full use of the building’s existing footprint and elevation.
Located on a prominent site in Somerville, the project introduces much needed housing while minimizing embodied carbon through reuse of the existing structure. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023.
